Sleep, glorious sleep!!!

I KNOW I can't expect this every night, but miracle of all miracles, J. slept for 9 hours last night!

He was fussy and nursing like crazy all day yesterday. We were checking his temperature every hour because he seemed like he might be feeling bad. We got him to bed at 11pm and he slept until 4am. I nursed him and we got him back to sleep at 6am, and he didn't wake up again until 10:15 this morning. My husband and I actually woke up before he did (and for once, we were refreshed)! J. seems to feel much better today too -- I think we all needed a good night's sleep for a change.

I'm not naive enough to think that this will happen again anytime soon, but for today, I can thank the heavens that it at least happened once.

You never know! It is possible that Jake has figured out that night = sleep. Grace slept through the night almost from the first. I think for the first six weeks we were putting her to bed at 11pm and getting up at 4am for a bottle, but by the time she was 6 weeks old, the 4am feeding had been pushed back to 7am. Some kids sleep through the night, some kids don't. It's luck of the draw, I guess... and I doubt my next kid will do the same! ;o)

Ummm that previous comment is me. I don't know why it's saying I'm anonymous!

I'm glad you two got some decent sleep. I know that lack of sleep makes for cranky mommy! LOL! I'm also glad to hear that he's fine and thriving.

And congrats on the weight loss so far! Awesome!

I'm so glad everything is going well. I want to call, but I don't know when your days and nights are right now.

Ahhhhhh!!!! It's almost 10pm, but i feel great after reading your post!! : )

You know what's funny? Waaay back when E. was two months old, I made a post with the same title...about the same thing! I just went and checked because yours seemed so familiar. There is NOTHING in this world (not even shopping at the Coach outlet or eating) that is like a good nights sleep after having a baby! Whooo-freaking-hoooo!

I've noticed E. sometimes would sleep very well after having an all day nursing fest. I don't know if it's a mini growth spurt (check in the dr. sears book...he lists when all the growth spurts are, and I've found him to be pretty accurate), or if it's them just being exhausted from being a little piggy....but it sure is nice!

What a good little boy you are Jake! Keep it up and we will forgive you for making us wait so long to see you! ; )

I have just literally stumble on your blog and love it! Thankyou for sharing Jake's entry into the world. I had a tear in my eye, what a handsome little man! Of course those first few months you're in so deep, and sleep even when you get is too brief. I admit there are days I wish for a coma, just to have complete oblivion and zero responsibility for a day!
