Crickey!

I frequent several forums online and am finding that people are shocked and saddened that Steve Irwin died.

Sure it's sad. Ironic? Sure. But shocking? Hardly.

I admit though, he deserves a lot of credit for a) living as long as he did considering his profession, and b) dying doing what he loved to do.

I'm so tempted...

To buy one of these. I just can't decide which is the funniest.

Dis n' Dat

***Yahoo! has this thing call the Buzz Index that lists what people are searching for most on the internet. Yesterday, the number one listing was Jaleel White. Yes, that would be Steve Urkel from Family Matters. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how he'd manage to beat out both Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie for the number 1 spot. Hell, I can't figure out how his name was even there in the first place!

***My husband and I were psyched that we'd be having J. after all of our favorite shows were over for the season. Yes, it's sad for me to admit, but television is a priority in our house (not that it will be for long). So what does NBC do? They create a summer show that stars Jason Gedrick. I don't know why, but he is almost as yummy as Patrick Dempsey to me. Thank God for digital video recording, I suppose!

***I am horrified by the newfound knowledge that most celebrities sell their baby's first pictures to the highest bidder. Even if it's for charity, it's still exploitation as far as I'm concerned. Or maybe I'm just jealous because I couldn't get $4.1 million for J.'s first picture.

I think that's all that's been on my mind this week. Yeah, pretty sad. I know. I'll take any distraction I can get right now though, so cut me some slack.

Drop Your Baby One More Time

Reports are out that Britney Spears is indeed pregnant again. Can someone please tell me what is wrong with this girl?!?

First of all, she's married to a skanky loser...a very fertile skanky loser. Does she think that having more children is going to save their marriage? Who knew that she was one of THOSE girls?!?

Secondly, she's not proven to the world yet that she can handle raising one child, let alone two. If poor Sean Preston gets dropped on his head one more time, he's going to end up as dumb as his used-to-be-hot-but-now-thiscloseto-white-trash mother.

This is one case where I think the child is better off being raised by a nanny...or even wolves.

On The Oscars...

Normally I'd be excited about the Oscars, however this year, I'm pissed because it means that I won't get my weekly dose of Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. Alas, I will have to hold my britches another week to find out if Meredith and McDreamy do anything forbidden on their morning walk.

It will be interesting to see who wins Best Actress. Personally, I'd love to see Reese Witherspoon get it -- I haven't even seen Walk The Line yet, but I just adore her. If she wins, I will cry the way I did when Renee Zellweger won for Best Supporting Actress for Cold Mountain. Of course, that could be the pregnancy hormones talking. I think the Oscar voters are too political though in their thinking...they may not give it to her because she already won the SAG and the Golden Globe. Charlize Theron was amazing in North Country, but she won last year so I'm guessing they won't give it to her again. Guess we will find out soon enough!

I really don't have strong opinions about the other categories, except that I don't understand why Rachel Weisz is getting so much praise for The Constant Gardner. I'd like to see someone like Matt Dillon win for Best Supporting Actor, but I doubt he will. Crash was an absolutely incredible movie and it would make a powerful statement if it won for Best Picture, but with all of the hype surrounding Brokeback Mountain, it might not stand a chance. It did win the SAG award though, so you just never know.

I'll just be honest right now and admit that what really matters isn't who wins, but what everyone is wearing. Can't wait to read Go Fug Yourself this coming week!

Does it wipe your baby's bottom too?

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am addicted to Coach bags. I have them in many colors, shapes, and sizes and don't ever leave the house without one.

When it came to buying a diaper bag for my baby though, I decided that I was going to go with Kate Spade...nothing against Coach, mind you. I was just ready for something a little different. For Christmas, my husband bought me a beautiful black Kate Spade baby bag with khaki quilted stitching. I am enamoured with it and cannot wait to start using it.

For some strange reason, today I decided to check out the prices on Coach baby bags on eBay. I know for a fact that the latest design runs for $398 in the stores. Imagine my shock and awe at the fact that a pink one is going for $1,000 on eBay right now! I'm sorry, but that's just fucking crazy. I was slightly choked at the thought of paying $398 for a baby bag, but think that anyone who "has to have" this particular baby bag so much that they would pay more than 2.5 times what it is worth has lost their mind. I mean, it's not like it has extra features like wiping your baby's poopy bottom or a self-cleaning feature when baby pukes all over it. Plus, think of all of the diapers you could buy with that extra money!

Oh my God. Call the press! It's happened. I've become cost-conscious.

It had to be said...

As far as I'm concerned, Patrick Dempsey is the new Brad Pitt. At least in my world. I can't get enough of the man - it's like I'm 15 again and he's Rob Lowe or something!

Anyhow, I just saw him on the Red Carpet for the Golden Globe awards with his wife...okay, while I admit that I'm not "all that" myself, his wife is definitely NOT hot enough to be his arm candy.

I'm just saying!!!

Animal, Mineral, Fruit or Vegetable?

I already assumed this was true, but Gwyneth Paltrow finally admitted that she is, indeed with child. This is one I can be happy about because a) she didn't steal the father of the baby from another woman and b) it's going to be fun to wait and see what she decides to name this one.

Will it be after a fruit again? If so, I'd probably go with Kumquat for a boy and Kiwi for a girl. Or, will she dare to be different and opt for a vegetable? I've always felt that Celery was a lovely name for a girl...and for a boy? Well how about Brussel Sprout or Spinach? Both very good, strong names!

As they say, the rich are definitely different.

Lucky Me

It was bad enough when I found out that I'd get to be pregnant alongside the likes of Katie Holmes (who, I must say...by herself is an absolutely adorable girl) and Tom Cruise (whom I once used to love but now just find strange and creepy).

Now, I find out that Angelina Jolie is pregnant too?!? What the hell!?!

I was just browsing on Celebrity Baby Blog, and everyone was posting in the comments section about how happy they are for Brangelina. I just can't bring myself to be happy for them.

Okay, so I don't know everything that went on between him and Jen. But I honestly don't care that Angelina has an Oscar, and adopts children from around the world and is a Good Will Ambassador, or that people in Africa love her. Nothing she will ever do will make me see her as more than a homewrecking viper who wears blood in a vial around her neck and makes out with her brother.

I voted!

I figure, since I won't be getting a sticker this year, I'd just let the world know via Internet. I had to submit an absentee ballot because I will be away during the election.

I am SO READY for this election to be over and done with! Even though I am a Republican, I did grapple with my decision for President.

In the end, I voted for who I voted for because it will benefit many of my students (and make my job a lot easier) if he is elected. See, if my candidate is elected (or re-elected, whichever the case may be), there are going to be a lot more jobs for my students when they graduate. I had a company specifically tell me that if this candidate is President, this company will have the ability to hire 100 of my students every year for the next 10 years. How amazing is that?!?

Of course, that's not the ONLY reason, I voted for who I did. But it was that which gave him a slight edge over the other candidate.

Anyhow, I made sure I bubbled in all of my selections very carefully, as not to confuse the voting officials. As the world knows, in the state of Florida, they are easily confused.

Deep down, I know Spurrier will probably never return to UF - he's got too much pride...however, a girl can dream, can't she?!?

Jack Tripper is dead?!?

I was stunned this morning to hear that John Ritter died! As a child, I was a huge Three's Company fan and have always liked seeing him turn up in television shows (Ally McBeal and Scrubs, to name a couple) and movies. How sad to see a life cut short at such a young age (54 is certainly young when people are living well into their 80's these days). :(

A sad day in the neighborhood

I always said I would cry if Mr. Rogers ever died, but never really thought I would. When I heard about it on the Today Show, I choked up. While me and my girlfriends, Debbie and Jennifer, used to make fun of him when we were in 5th grade (and therefore, not babies who watched such shows anymore), I have grown to adore and appreciate him.

I wonder how Lady Aberlin is doing.

On Chandra

While all the signs pointed to Chandra Levy being dead, it was still sad and shocking to hear that they found her skeletal remains. May they find out what happened to her and catch whoever did this. While at first I thought Condit had something to do with her disappearance, now I'm not sure...had he ordered her death, or done it himself, something tells me she would never have been found. I don't know anymore. I just hope that the DC police are smart enough to figure it out.

On Ally McBeal's final episode...

What in the hell WAS that?

While I realize they didn't have a lot of time to plan a final episode, that sucker was thrown together like a sloppy joe!

With writing like that, it's no wonder the show was canceled. Grrr!

The end of Ally

Ally McBeal's SERIES finale is May 20th. How sad that they are canceling it. I admit, the beginning of this season lost me as a viewer for awhile. But after they got rid of those 2 EXTREMELY annoying characters, I was once again hooked. C'est la vie.

Wouldn't that be the irony of ironies? That Bin Laden gets killed in a damn earthquake.

Last night, we were watching the news and I said to my husband, how much do you want to bet there will be some suicides among Enron executives? And they just announced suicide #1.

My personal belief is that suicide is the most cowardice thing you can do. Yeah, life sucks sometimes but you have to ride it out.

Bye Bye, Miss American Pie

If you loved American Pie, you will absolutely HATE American Pie 2. While it's somewhat entertaining (that's being generous), it lacks the momentum that the first one had. I was so looking forward to seeing it and was VERY disappointed. Why do filmmakers love to ruin a good thing by making a sequel?
