You know, I always wondered why that 4 Non Blondes song was called "What's Up" when it should be called "What's Going On"...
Anyhow, as usual my life is full of random chaos and inane musings.
For example, my boss is on maternity leave which means that I'm in charge. Whoopee! It couldn't have happened at a better time because last week administration sprung a "reorganization" on us. They had our department reporting somewhere it had no business reporting so instead of stressing with my boss about it like I normally would, I was the one dealing with administration and stressing with my boss (and feeling very guilty about bothering her while she is supposed to be enjoying time with her new baby). The good news is that we won't be reporting to that department now, but thanks for the heartburn, jackasses!
I have my comprehensive exam for my masters degree on March 22nd. Part of me is just thrilled for it to be over with and the other part is terrified that I will run out of time before I have a chance to study. I'm taking time off of work this week and next to get on it, and I know I usually study best when under the gun, but there is always that fear that I won't pass and will have to take it again, meaning I won't graduate until August.
We have dropped the price of our house down by over $80K from the original asking price and have had a lot more traffic lately, but no offers yet. We had an offer back in October that was insulting at the time, but is starting to look more and more attractive with each passing month. Why can't we win the lottery so we can just rent it out and not worry about it until after the market picks back up?!? Why, damnit?!?
If I thought my upper management was ridiculous, my husband's wins hands down. They sold their company today to a European company...something they had to do because of a long line of bad business decisions. My husband's boss (who is an absolutely amazing person) lost his job today, along with 25% of the sales force.
The really good news though is that he is getting the f- out of there soon. By the end of next week, he should have two job offers on the table. Both are pretty good, though one is for his dream job in medical device sales. If he gets offered the med device job, he's taking it, and in a few years I can quit my job, render my degree useless, and sit around blogging all damn day!
Let's see, what else...
Well, my favorite band of all time, Duran Duran, is coming to concert in May! I have been waiting for this for three fricking years and I swore I was going to do VIP when they came back! But when I saw the price for VIP tickets, I changed my mind: $400. Okay, I'd gladly pay $400 a ticket if I were guaranteed a handshake from a band member and a front row seat. But here's what you get with that $400: a pre-concert reception (2 drink tickets and some lousy food), a ticket in one of the first 5 rows (and you don't know which row or which side you will be in until you get to the concert...the face value of the ticket is $115), and some merchandise (last time I went VIP I got a lanyard, a bag, some other crap, and a beach towel). I just don't see where that's all worth $400! Oh, but wait! You also get a CHANCE to meet the band, which of course, I didn't win. Still I met two of the band members anyhow by sheer tenacity and shenaniganery (yes, I know it's not a real word). So anyhow, I got not too bad of seats - they are in the stands, but right next to the stage. I'm happy!
I think that's all for now. Will fill you in on updates soon. Need to go back and study now. Yawn.
