I made the mistake last week of
I was tired of the maintenance involved with highlights, so I told her I wanted to go to one color. Blonde, of course.
She took the statement, "I love your hair" to heart, because she proceeded to color my hair the same as hers...platinum (almost white) blonde! I looked in the mirror and was horrified!
From the back, it looked incredible. I will give her that, but from any angle which involved seeing my face attached to the hair...not pretty, to say the least. I looked like I had been hit with the trailer-park stick.
I debated about skipping work the next day, but put on a brave face and went anyhow. I got the looks of shock and then the, "I like it!" Which you KNOW people were saying to be nice. One guy even put on sunglasses when he saw me...enough said.
I went back to her to have it toned down, but what she ended up doing was damaging my hair even more. When she finished blowdrying, she finally asked me if that was what I was looking for. Not a moment sooner.
Of course, it wasn't. I went home and my husband couldn't tell the difference.
FINALLY, on Saturday, I went to the girl my sister and mom go to. I certainly couldn't go back to my old stylist...he'd know I cheated on him and would never let me hear the end of it.
Anyhow, my hair is now a lot darker. A tasteful dark blonde and more "me". Just another "hair sin" to add to my sordid history of hair sins. May I never repeat this one again!

Oh, honey! I'm so sorry that you had a hair fiasco. Although, I'd rather have a coloring fiasco than a styling fiasco. I'm still trying to recover from a disaster back in January. My hair has been the source of my frustration for months!!!
Regardless, you're still GORGEOUS in my eyes!
Love ya!
Oh God. This same thing happened to me once. I looked like Barbie. It was terrible. Just terrible. And the comments! My favorite was "OH!...uh huh..Did you do that yourself"?
The stylist knew it looked bad but let me leave like that anyway. The next time I went back to her she would bring up how I had "wanted" to be that blond. Right.
At the least I think these crazy stylists should admit their mistakes and do something instead of pretending it looks good.
Oh sister, I know your pain. With all the hell and hair loos of finally getting back to blonde, I ended up over processing on myself!!! A friend of mine is a colorist for Redkin and ended up making it worse- dirty blonde. It is slowly washing out but is now short to combat the damage. Oye vey!
Miss you lady!!
Why do all of us have these awful war stories about hair?!?
