Stephen arrived first thing in the morning. After celebrating his arrival (wink, wink), we went and toured around the city. We walked several miles down to Princes Street and had lunch in a cool restaurant called The Bad Ass Bistro. After, we walked through a very old cemetery and then all the way up the hill to Edinburgh Castle. Afterwards, we walked down the Royal Mile and stopped for tea at a cafe that only serves food containing chocolate...how cool is that? We then walked back to the room and dressed for the evening. We were exhausted from walking so much, so we cabbed it back to Princes Street to watch the "end of festival" fireworks at Edinburgh Castle. They were absolutely stunning, set to an orchestra playing music in time with the display. It was raining, which sucked, but a beautiful site nonetheless. Before the fireworks, we had the most amazing mussels I imagine I'll ever eat in my life at the Mussel Inn. The service was actually great too, which we imagine is because our waitress was from Boston.
After the fireworks, it was impossible to get a cab back to campus, so we had to hoof it. Not fun when you are wearing high-heeled boots. I don't think I will ever walk again.
