I will feel better if I air this out here - I'm a bit passive aggressive, I do admit, considering that I could have been a raging bitch during the situation and earned myself a free dinner. That is SO not me though.
So, the question I ponder is "Do servers think that just because a person is dining alone that they should be ignored, or, is it happenstance that every time I dine alone I get bad service?"
I go to dinner tonight - alone (I am on a business trip in St. Pete) - and am seated immediately...however, it took the waitress about 15 minutes to come over and greet me. When she did she apologized and I was alright. When my food arrives she doesn't come back to check and make sure I'm okay...I finish my dinner and am sitting quietly reading a book (food is piled aside and credit card is on the table - both signs that it's time to bring the bill) - and about 20 minutes later she brings me my check. Mind you - other servers have seen me sitting there but don't bother to ask if I need anything or if they can get my server - but I digress. Okay - so the bill comes and I hand her my credit card immediately...well, of course it's the wrong bill and she has to void out my credit card and start over.
Don't get wrong - I was a server all though college and I know it's not easy work at times...however, I also know what good service is and when I don't get it, I get hornery. Hence this post. I feel much better now...thanks for letting me vent. ;)
