The Diet I Swore I'd Never Do...

My NY resolutions haven't gone according to plan...at least not when it comes to weight loss. I have been working out more, which I am very happy about, but the weight wasn't coming off. Soooo, when my husband mentioned he was going to start the Atkins Diet, I agreed to do it with him.

I have always been against the Atkins...partly because I'm just not that into meat. Also partly, because I've been a staunch supporter of the "Diets Don't Work" movement. Desperate times call for desperate measures though, so here I am.

I am currently on Day 5 and have lost around 3 pounds. Not an astronomical amount, but it is the difference between a comfortable size 6 and a "hope they don't rip" size 6. What has impressed me with the diet is how quickly I stopped craving sweets and all things carb. Additionally, I feel more at ease...not constantly thinking about what I'm going to eat next or stressing about things I can't control. I think the best way to describe it is "even-keeled."

We will see how the next week or so goes once I finish the 2-week induction. I have a feeling though that I will stay on it through the other three phases and see if I can maintain a low carb lifestyle for as long as possible. Who would have thunk it?!?
