We left our crappy place in Edinburgh and rented a car near the airport. It's a blue VW Golf and is super cute (see pic above). Anyhow, we had a few terrifying moments at first but he got the hang of it pretty quickly. Our first stop was the quaint little village of Dunkeld (see pic below). When I was on the tour on Saturday, we stopped there to pee and I fell in love with it. When Stephen and I got there, he did too. Dunkeld is the most idyllic place - the River Tay runs through it and the grass is so green. People were picnicking on the banks or sharing park benches. Like I said, completely idyllic. We had lunch at a great little pub that had outdoor seating on the river. After, we walked around the Dunkeld Cathedral (part of it is now in ruins - dates back to 14th century, if I remember correctly) and near the river and then got back in the car to head to our final destination for the day, Pitlochery.
Pilochery is also a quaint little village, but a little bigger than Dunkeld. We checked out the dam and salmon ladder and then found a B&B to stay in called the Dundarave House - it was situated on a hill that overlooked the village...absolutely beautiful! After we got settled in, we headed into the village and walked around for awhile before having dinner. Stephen tried haggis for the first time (I took a itty bitty bite, it wasn't bad but I will never try it again, after learning what was in it). We then went back to the B&B to relax and take a much-needed bath.
