Scotland: Day 14

Today was probably my least favorite day because first thing in the morning, my "monthly disappointment" arrived. We then found out that we couldn't stay an extra night at our dream B&B. PLUS, it was raining with gale force winds - all around, a bad combination.

We first went to Dumbarton Castle, climbing steps for what seemed like forever in the windy and rainy weather. My cramps were unbelievable - but after some Alleve, I felt somewhat better...just in time for Dundonald Castle, which was pretty cool. We then went to my most anticipated castle, Culzean (see pic above). Culzean Castle was like the Disney World of castles - absolutely gorgeous with a deer pasture, gardens, and a beautiful water view.

After that, we drove to Glasgow to have dinner at Esca, a restaurant that Scotland for Dummies recommended. It wasn't open yet so we had an appetizer at another place first. After dinner, we went in search of a place to sleep. We drove around for quite some time before settling for a Holiday Inn Express (smoking room - yuck) in Bathgate, between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
