So we are nearly a go for IVF. I started taking The Pill 11 days ago and hubby and I went in today for our consultation. I was very happy and excited when they told us that everything was covered, all the way down to ICSI and even cryogenically freezing any remaining embryos and doing any frozen transfer cycles, should they be necessary. We just have to pay my co-pay for every visit and a $500 administrative fee.
Of course, happy feeling came to an end when the RE tried to do my trial transfer. This is when they simulate the embryo transfer to make sure that my uterus is okay and that everything will go smoothly. Several problems: 1. I had fluid around my ovaries, though the RE didn't seem to think it was a big deal after he ruled out that I wasn't pregnant by making me get dressed, take a pregnancy test, and then get undressed again. Um, I'm glad he is anal but I certainly wouldn't be going to see an RE if I were pregnant!
Anyhow, on to #2: my cervix has a nabothian cyst on my cervix. Word on the street is that these are relatively normal and harmless. #3: my cervix comes in at a funky angle; and finally, #4: my uterus is retroverted again (it was put back in the right place when I had my c-section but apparently it went back to it's old configuration).
What does all of this mean? Besides the fact that I had to endure so much pain tht I was screaming on the inside?!? That I have to have a surgical hysteroscopy within the next week or so. If it can be scheduled next week, it won't interfere with my planned IVF cycle, but it could still nevertheless depending on what is going on. So I have to wait to hear back from the RE's office to schedule the procedure.
On a happy note, when I called to order my fertility drugs, it turns out that I only had to pay $140 in co-pays, saving us about $2600!
Hopefully I will get to use them soon!
