Apparently, it's true that pregnancy brain doesn't go away when you are no longer pregnant.
Last week, I ordered my birth announcements. I carefully picked them out and spent a lot of time selecting the perfect picture for them. The next day, they sent me a proof back and I looked at it about 50 times before approving it.
On Saturday, I sent out all 150 announcements. Today, we got a call from our next door neighbor telling us that they were shocked to discover that J. was already 2 years old.
Stunned, we checked the announcement and low and behold, it says that J.'s birthday is 06.16.04. D'oh!
I guess I DO need more sleep!

At least you're not the only one with mommy-brain. I swear my kids get smarter and I get dumber (and my oldest is 2.5!). I claim it's all the nursing - they're literally sucking my brains out.
oops! i'm so absent minded that it wouldn't take "pregnancy brain" to make that mistake. it's a cute story though!
I just got mine in the mail today and I admit, it I noticed it right away. I said "OH NO!" outloud to no one. I felt so bad because I knew you must have sent out tons. But your friends know when he was really born! The announcement is otherwise fabulous. So adorable and one of the nicest ones I've ever seen.
What are you going to do? I swear I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't told me. I don't even have an excuse.
You'll get your brain back in a few years.
What I don't get is why are mistakes like that only completely obvious to us (you and me, BOTH!) after we send the thing??? I can't tell you how often I did things like that at work...only to realize it after everything was mailed.
Totally reminds me of Elaine and the nipple card. See, it could be worse.
I just got mine! I swear to you, i wouldn't have noticed. I love it! great picture you picked!

what Alicia said when she saw the boo-boo.
Lanna - now THAT makes sense to me! No wonder I've been feeling so stupid these days! It's the breastfeeding - ha ha! :)
Cory - well, I decided to order 25 more, for family, so that they would have the correct date on them. The funny thing is that when I re-ordered them, I started from scratch...they just sent me the proof and low and behold, it says 06.16.04 still. So I resubmitted the correction with a little note explaining the mistake from the first time around. I'm hoping they'll be cool and refund the money for the 25 I just ordered, but I'm not holding my breath. It was my mistake for overlooking it the first time, but as Kris mentioned, they should have caught that...because who sends out birth announcements for a child who is 2 years old?!?
Becky - I probably would have made the mistake even if I didn't just have a baby...but at least for now I have a valid excuse! ;)
Christine - you just made me laugh my ass off! You are right - it could have been MUCH worse!!!
Okay, so they fixed the date this time around and they asked me if I mailed out the first batch. I explained that I didn't notice the problem until someone pointed it out to me. If they are nice and send me 150 (instead of the 25 I ordered), I will sing this company's praises and recommend them to all of my friends. Stay tuned.
I found a disclaimer about such mistakes on their website...looks like at best they will give me a 25% discount. Guess it's SOMETHING.
