Place your bets!

Well, there's been some progress, though not as much as I'd hoped considering I'm still getting some relatively painful contractions. I've done some research and they call it Prodromal Labor. It can last for weeks. Considering that it's been 3 already, you'd think that someone would put me out of this misery. But they won't. Not yet, at least.

There has been some progress though. At my dr's appointment on Friday, I was about 60% effaced and 1 centimeter dilated. It's something.

So I'm here now to say, place your bets. When do YOU think J. will arrive?!? Post in the comments and whoever is closest to the correct date gets bragging rights for years to come. My due date is June 10, but remember, only 5% of all births occur on the actual due date.

I've decided that I want him to arrive on June 2nd, as that is my 8-year marriage anniversary with my husband. I say marriage and not wedding because we got married on that date, but didn't have the big wedding until a year and 3 months later. Long story, but the gist of it is that he was in the military and we knew we would get married eventually anyhow, so we did a Justice of the Peace wedding in advance of the big wedding we were already planning. We don't celebrate this anniversary (we celebrate the big wedding anniversary instead), so it would be cool to have something else to celebrate on that day.

I think the only date I have an aversion to is June 6th. Yeah, I know it's not the year 6, it's 2006, but it would still be creepy to have a child born on 6/6/06. We would have to change his name from J. to Damien, and I've never been a fan of that name. Plus, he already has stuff personalized with J...what a pain that would be to change! Ha ha.

Honestly, I'll be happy whenever he decides to arrive, though I hope it's very soon!

I will say June 12th. But I hope it is soon. I'm praying it will not be on 6/6/06! Tell the dr. there is no way you can take the chance and have a baby on that day. Maybe he will induce you earlier.

I'll go with June 4. You're lucky you're actually going to go into labor on your own (crosses fingers)!!! Grace was two weeks late, and the only reason I went into labor was because I was induced. I had no prior labor, no effacing, no dilation, no NOTHING. Now I have no idea what to expect when I have my next kid!! Good luck with Jake!

I'll go with June 2nd, but only because it hasn't been picked yet. I'm no good at making bets.

Dang it, Christine! (lol) You took my date. I was going to say the 8th because "Eight is Great" and it also rhymes with Jake!! So, that's really my first choice, but I'll go on a limb and say the 3rd as my second choice.

YAY! Jake is almost here!!!

Love ya!

I think it sucks that you haven't been posting as much. This is a time in your life that you want to document and remember for forever. This is a time in your life that will never happen again. I have had three babies and am expecting my fourth and there is something very magical about bringing your first into the world.

Post, baby. POST!

Kate, I know - I've been a slacker! I've just been SO brain dead this week! Seriously, it took me until today to write my ASOTW because I kept forgetting what I was planning to write about. How sad is that?!? In the next week, there will probably be more posts complaining about my state of discomfort!

Looks like Becky and mk are out of the running! Sorry, guys (unless you want to change your bet...I'll let you cause I'm cool like that).
