Bambino de Mayo

Well, it almost happened this morning...

I woke up at around 3am to pee and started having contractions...they were 5 minutes apart for an hour and since I'm only 35 weeks, I wasn't about to wait and see if they got stronger or closer together.

My husband took me to L&D at around 4:30 this morning. They hooked me up to the monitors and found that my contractions were 3 minutes apart, however my cervix was completely closed, high, and thick.

Had my cervix showed any sign of changing, we would have had a cinco de Mayo baby.

Instead, they kept me on the monitor for several hours, gave me an IV and some meds to stop the contractions, and released me at around 9am. I'm still having contractions, but they are very far apart now, so they're hoping they will soon stop.

So now I'm on bedrest for the weekend and will go back to see the doctor on Monday morning.

Something tells me that little J. is going to be a May baby! Hopefully he will stay in for at least another two weeks so that he is full-term. Keep your fingers crossed.

Glad to hear things are ok and that there was no change in your cervix (bet you never thought i'd be discussing your cervix...but, oh the joys of pregnancy!). Pregnancy is like a 40 week cervix soap opera! : )

I bet he will be a May baby! Get all the sleep you can NOW!!! I'm way serious about that.

Speaking of the big day, don't know if I ever told you, but with A. and E. I started taking Evening primrose oil at 36 wks. It's an herb that some people claim helps to prepare your body to kick into labor. My dr. said he didn't think it would work (but didn't think it would hurt, either)...but do some searches on it and draw your own conclusions. my doula was all for it. Both kids were born exactly 14 days after I started taking it...weird, huh?

C - interesting about the evening primrose oil...I will have to look into that. He is more than welcome to join us outside the womb anytime after I'm 37 weeks. But before then, I'd really like him to stay in time out.

B - Yeah, I'm thrilled about the bedrest. Speaking of which, guess I should go hop back into bed. :(

K - Thanks! :)

Uh, do ya think he heard us "talking" yesterday?!? I mean, c'mon....what're the odds?

Tell him that *I* said to stay in there until at least the 19th! :-)
