We stayed on Sullivan's Island, which is just outside of Charleston. The house we rented would have been perfect if not for the ant infestation (which, in turn caused an ant infestation in our SUV), poor cleaning job (we found an acrylic fingernail underneath the bed), and lack of upkeep...but I didn't complain because I didn't pay for any of it. I figure that everything is relative and if I lived in a trailer, I'd think the place was a palace!
Anyhow, despite all of that, the house was in an amazing location and we were able to make it into Charleston almost every day. Our house was situated across the street from the ocean and directly on the marsh, which was very nice. The weather was pretty bad most days, but when it was sunny, we went to the beach. My husband and I even found opportunities to venture out on our own, so we spent time checking out the amazing houses and scenes in Charleston, and even got to see Charlie & The Chocolate Factory on an IMAX screen (incredible).
I SO needed this vacation. Tomorrow will be my last jaunt out to Arizona for some time (until October) and I am so excited for it to be over with. In other news, I was promoted to Director and am thrilled that I was able to do it without moving across the country. It's been a long road, but it's all downhill from here!
