Who's more obsessed?!?

I don't know if it is because I didn't get many of the things I wanted when I was a child that makes me this way, but I feel compelled to spoil my son rotten. As a kid, I was insanely into Strawberry Shortcake dolls and I only ever had Apple Dumpling, Lemon Meringue, Angel Cake, and Strawberry Shortcake, while I had friends who had ALL of the dolls! Maybe this is why I've suddenly become obsessed with buying my son diecast characters from the movie "Cars."

There are probably about 200 different ones (give or take a few) and every week I find myself scouring Toys R Us for the latest shipment, or checking eBay for the ones that are hard to find. Of course, J. is appreciative, or else I wouldn't give them to him...but, he is not even 2.5 yet! I rationalize my behavior with the following points: 1) he knows all of their names, 2) it has taught him about colors, 3) I try using them to teach him his numbers (e.g., how many Ramones are there?), 4) the look on his face when he gets a new one is priceless!

So far, the kid has at least 60 of them at about $3.50 a pop. He loves them though and ignores all of his other toys in favor of them. I'm using them right now to try and potty train him. So far, he is peeing in the potty at least 1-2 times a day so it is working.

I just had to share because I've realized that while he loves them, it's me who is the obsessed one. How did I become of of those moms?!?

He is looking like such a big boy!! I can't believe how time flies. He was just a little baby!
I can see myself being obsessed with toys too. I think using the cars to help potty train is brilliant. I'm taking notes. haha!
