So anyhow, here I am!
And the crappy thing is that I have so much to blog about, really! For example:
Thanks to my migraine medication, I lost a bunch of weight and am now down to well under 120 pounds, making me a self-proclaimed Hot Mom (no longer am I lukewarm) - I actually bought a pair of SIZE 0 pants the other day and almost crapped in them, I was so shocked (and happy)!
I recently joined the self-proclaimed "Hot Moms Who Drive Minivans" club when we traded in our Acura TL for a Toyota Sienna. I never thought I'd drive a freaking minivan, but let me tell you, this thing is SWEEEEEET!!!! And whoever came up with the idea to put a DVD player in the backseat?!? That person needs to win a Nobel Peace Prize!!!
In April my parents and I took J. to Disney's Animal Kingdom. He got to meet Mickey Mouse. As you can see from the photo below, he was not a fan.
On Mother's Day, a brush fire broke out in my development. My husband was out of town and I stepped out my door to see a giant wall of smoke very close to my house, with a fire truck in my front yard and fire fighters telling me to get the hell out. It was one of the scariest and upsetting things I've ever had to go through. We got out okay; as luck would have it, my husband's best friend was on his way over to borrow something at the same time I was evacuating so he helped calm me down and got things out of the house, like our computers and photo albums. We were allowed back in after a day or so, but I stayed with my mother-in-law all well because I was too freaked out to go home. Luckily, nobody lost their home, though most of the empty lots in our development are now charred. It got as close as 2/10 of a mile from our house but thankfully, no closer.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a fanatic for Duran Duran. My husband and I got to see them in Orlando a few weeks ago - we had great seats! The following day I drove down to Boca Raton to see them again with my friend, Guy. Unfortunately, for the Boca show, I bought my tickets through a broker, thinking I was getting front row seats and they ended up being off to the side with a limited view. And dude, I paid $200 each for them! I was determined to get my money's worth, so we snuck over to the center aisle and got as close as we could without getting kicked out by Security. The people on the ends of the aisles were very nice and let us stay there, so we ended up with great seats and had a blast - it was like a Mentos commercial!
My friend, Michelle's husband is piloting the space shuttle mission that is at the International Space Station right now, so she was nice enough to get us passes to see the launch at Kennedy Space Center. It was absolutely incredible - if you live in Florida, you really need to go see it up close at least once in your lifetime (though unless you marry or give birth to an astronaut, or one gives birth to you, you can only get as close as 6 miles).
My sister gave me her dog because she couldn't keep her - it's the cutest little Pomeranian you ever saw. She lasted a whole week before she nipped at and scratched J. in the face. Now she is my mom's dog.
And the best for last...
J. will be two next week and is not a baby anymore! It honestly feels like we were just planning his first birthday party and here I am planning his second! He is talking up a storm now, speaking in short phrases and repeating everything I say (yeah, he's already said "Oh shit!" so now I REALLY need to watch my mouth). He knows his colors and shapes, and we are always just so amazed at how smart he is. Of course, now he is really getting into the Terrible Twos, with some pretty hardcore tantrums, but when he is good, you could just eat him up (lucky for me, he loves to go shopping)! He is so much fun to be around, and so loving and sweet. He's very generous with his hugs and kisses and he loves his mommy very much. The great thing is that he's now sleeping in his toddler bed! He will get up in the middle of the night and my husband will put him back to sleep, but we are able to sleep much better now...so when people ask me if we are ready for #2 - I think about how much sleep I'm getting now and I just can't be sure I'm ready to give that up just yet!

I wish I'd have known you were in Boca!! I could have met you for lunch or dinner. Bummer. Ah, well... maybe we'll get to meet up sometime over the summer while school is out, etc. (for me & Ben)
Can't believe that next Monday he'll be TWO! As in one more than one. (ha ha) Where the hell does the time go?????
Thanks for the update!
I heard about that fire and I was wondering about you. I can't believe it was so close. Very Scary!
The pic of Jake on the beach is my favorite. Two years has certainly gone by fast.
Make sure to post pics from his birthday.
