9 months!!!

It is absolutely astounding to me how fast the time flies by! At nine months, J. is a professional cruiser. He pulls himself up, tries to open drawers, climb, and thankfully, now knows how to fall on his butt without injuring himself. He can stand unassisted for up to 10 seconds at a time, and has even started taking steps (only to fall on his butt, but hey, at least he is trying).

He's still not talking yet. Ba-ba is as far as it goes, but they say that babies don't attach meanings to words until after they are a year old anyhow. He's very good at communicating his feelings without speaking - you KNOW when he is happy, mad, hungry, tired, ready to play, etc. And he just learned how to wave hello/bye-bye today!

Most of the time, he's a fun baby, though he does get cranky if he's tired, hungry, or his teeth hurt. He's definitely a mama's boy - always wanting to be around his mama. Daddy can walk into a room and he smiles...but when I do, it's like the end of the world! I'm told this is a good thing, but it can be frustrating when I need to do simple things, like go to the bathroom or change the diaper pail, but can't because he won't leave my side without throwing a fit.

That said, I love him with all of my heart. When he is asleep, I just stare at him, completely amazed that he is for real, and not a dream.

oooooh, this is the start of the good times!!! Well, until age two anyway.

Love the picture!

I know what you mean about staring at him. Sometimes, when she's sleeping, I'll be praying and thanking God for her, and just start crying. I have to run out of her room before all the sniffling wakes her up!
