J. decided this morning that it would be fun to freak his mama out. Normally, he's a jumping bean at ALL hours of the day - especially after I eat. When I woke up, he was really quiet so I decided to have some apple juice to wake him up, but it didn't work. I started getting nervous and started poking at him...he moved a tiny bit, but nothing like I'm used to.
I started freaking out because of a story someone had recently told me, so I called my doctor's office to try and move my appointment up from tomorrow to today. The nurse told me to go to Labor & Delivery instead. So, for the third time in so many weeks, I headed to the hospital.
They hooked me up to the monitors and wouldn't you know...he started jumping around. In the hour and a half that I was there, he kicked and punched almost the whole time (part of me thinks he was laughing at the little joke he played on me too). I had a few decent contractions while I was there as well, but of course nothing worth admitting me for. So they sent us on our merry way.
I am starting to give up hope that he will come before my due date (which is only 16 days away, thankfully). The bottom line is that he will come when he's good and ready. The good news is that I'm completely ready for him, so now it's just a matter of waiting.
Sigh.

He's just starting early. He couldn't help but have a great sense of humor with you and Johnny Appleseed as parents.
no no jake! not funny! e. did that to me in the last trimester...it was horrible. i cried all the way to the hosp...b/c when I called the dr. to tell them she'd been way too quiet for like two and a half days, they freaked out and said go to the hosp. NOW. She did the same thing the minute they hooked me up. I'll remind her of what she put me through when she's complaining about being pregnant one day.
They always freak out at the dr's when you tell them baby's not been moving much...not cool when they freak you out even more than you were already freaked out. Yes, these little stories of pregnancy and labor will certainly come in handy for occasional guilt trips when our children get older! Looking forward to that! ;)
PS: Johnny Appleseed sends his love. We're watching The Ringer this weekend...hee hee.
