My first "up all night" session with baby

I ended up being worried to pieces about the baby, so my mom took me to the emergency room at around 11:30 last night. First, we went to the hospital in Flagler County. It's a brand-new facility, so you'd think they'd have all of the amenities of a normal hospital, right? Nope, no ob/gyns on staff. They don't even have a birthing center!

So, at 12:30 we made it over to Ormond Memorial. I didn't get back into the ER exam room until 2am, wasn't seen by a nurse until 4am, and wasn't seen by the doctor on staff until 5am.

My mom (God bless her), stayed up with me the whole time. Little J. was kicking the crap out of me whole time...probably to say, "I'm fine, mom! Take me home so we can sleep!"

But I needed to be SURE that everything was really alright. They drew blood (from my hand - ewwwww), checked the baby's heartbeat (156 bmp - good), and checked for bruising from the seatbelt. Then, they gave me 2 Tylenol (subsequently billing my insurance company $25/each, I'm sure) and told me to call my ob/gyn on Monday.

Gee, I feel soooooo much better! Really, though - it was reassuring to hear the baby's heartbeat and know that everything looked normal. I will definitely call my ob/gyn on Monday and try to get in to see her right away.

I seriously never thought I could feel this much worry over someone - I was a nervous wreck. If anything ever happened to him, I don't know what I'd do. Guess that makes me a mom, huh? ;)
