It's a Boy, Right?!?

Okay, so when I had my ultrasound at 18 weeks, the technician told us with 100% certainty that it was a boy. We were (and still are) elated!

But, I've had a few family members comment to me that they weren't sure where the penis was in the ultrasound picture. My mom actually swears (and I can see why she would think so) that what the ultrasound technician labeled as a penis, is really a foot.

We're painting the nursery this weekend (blue, of course), but it got us thinking...what if the ultrasound tech was wrong. I mean, she's only human and I've heard all kinds of stories where they make mistakes regarding gender.

We are going to go through with the painting, but decided that we will get a 3D/4D ultrasound done between 28-30 weeks to make sure that we have a little Jacob inside of me and not a little Kaitlyn.

Funny thing is, I was certain that it was a girl before - I even dreamt that I met my baby and it was a girl...but now that we are pretty sure it's a boy, I *really* hope it is...and not just because I've already bought a ton of clothes!!!

Update: After I wrote this post, I started scouring the other ultrasound pictures to see if there were any that included telltale signs that it was a boy. I found one! We may still do the 3D/4D ultrasound though...just to be safe!

IMO, it does look like a boy. I used to be bad at figuring out u/s but I'm pretty good now, but I guess you never really know. We painted Emilee's room pink and everyday after, I would nearly have a panic attack thinking the SIX ultrasounds I had were wrong (I had six b/c she thought it was funny to scare mommy with all kinds of things like a skipping heartbeat, measuring little, etc.). They would always ask me, "Do you know the sex yet?" I'd tell them I did, but could they please double check. I was scared the second the pink went on the wall that would automatically mean she would turn into a he.

I think I'd consider the 3-D u/s just to be sure...unless you have to have another regular one for some reason (let's hope your little one doesn't like to scare mommy though).

I didn't want to know the sex of my kids until they were born. But, when the 3D/4D ultra sound was available for my second child-I went and had it done! (I turned my head when the doctor went near the sex organs)
I received a video and pictures and the clarity is absolutely amazing! It's well worth having for a keepsake-not just to make sure about the sex of the baby. I wish it had been around for my first-born.

Oh my Lord. What about the Cuban cigar we saw?

I do think it's a boy, but I'm getting the ultrasound done to be safe (and because it's super cool)...I don't want any surprises on delivery day!!!

PS: Especially since I don't know how to pronounce svbxnm ;)

Maybe you should name Baby Jacob after his sonogram picture.... DICK (oh wait, that would be Richard)!

I think "Penis" has a nicer ring to it, don't you?!? Maybe I will have to have a talk with the hubby. ;)
