An Evening with U2

I survived my first concert as a pregnant woman last night.

We went to see U2 - I expected it to be a good show, but I'm not really that huge of a fan. Through the years, they've come out with some really incredible songs, but not so incredible that I took the time to learn the words. Usually, I'll find a U2 song I like, listen to it about 5 times and be done with it forever.

There are some exceptions. With or Without You, for example. This song reminds me of 8th grade. I was going out with this boy much older than me (a sophomore in high school), named Josh...of course his favorite album at the time was The Joshua Tree (could it have had anything to do with his name?!?). Anyhow, I dumped him after a few weeks, but I still love that song.

Luckily, they played it during their first of two encores, or I would have broken bad on Bono.

Anyhow, the concert was slightly better than I expected. They sounded amazing and played really good songs...with the exception of those played during the second encore (but we didn't really care because it made it that much easier to leave early).

My only issues were with the jackass who was standing in back of us, and the freaky dude who was dancing like a madman and blocking my view half of the time in front of us.

The guy in back of us wouldn't shut the f*ck up -- he had such a loud talking voice, and and even louder (and terrible) singing voice. He would be talking to his friend at the top of his lungs, then start singing a couple of lines, then as soon as Bono stopped singing, he would talk again. Finally, Stephen turned around and said, "Are you going to talk through the whole show?" And the guy got all pissy and tried to talk smack back and start something. Normally I would have been upset with my husband, but at that moment, I considered him my hero.

I was very sleepy and sat the entire time, and I could have lived without the human rights spiel, but all in all, it was a good show. I even discovered a couple of new songs that I liked and promptly went onto iTunes this morning to download them.

Don't know if I'd pay $95 for nosebleeds to see them again, but stranger things have happened.
