Arizona Bound?

Things just got more complicated in my world. Basically, my boss has asked me to consider a promotion that will move my husband and I to Arizona. In theory, it's a great idea, but to be honest, I'm terrified!

I once read that most women feel like they are a fraud in terms of their level of competence at work. That's me. Sometimes I'm amazed that people think I'm so good at what I do because half the time, I feel as though I am winging it as I go along. Of course this points to more deep-rooted issues involving self-esteem, and I'm not in a deep mood today.

So, instead of digging deep within myself to find the answers, I'm going to work out a list of pros and cons associated with this opportunity.

Pros:
*My salary would increase by 50%
*It would be a smart move, career-wise
*It would be an exciting challenge
*I could make a huge impact on many students
*I'd have my own budget and control over decisions
*I'd be able to hire my whole staff, starting from scratch
*A lot of my friends visit out there for work, so I'd still get to see them
*It's a 4-hour drive to Las Vegas and a 6-hour drive to Los Angeles
*Dry air is good for your hair
*We'd be able to experience 4 seasons
*We'll make a mint when we sell this house

Cons:
*There would be extremely high expectations
*I'd have to start working in an office setting again (i.e., no more working from home)
*That office needs A LOT of work
*They don't believe in daylight savings in Arizona
*It snows there - and gets very cold
*The cost of living is much higher there
*Dry air is bad for my skin
*We would be very far away from family and friends
*I would have to put my masters on hold - AGAIN
*My husband would have to put in for a job transfer
*The closest Coach store is 2 hours away, and it's not even an outlet!!! The closest one looks like it's in Las Vegas - the horror!!!

I still have quite a bit of time to think this over. My boss said it wouldn't come to fruition until May at the earliest...the more time I have to decide, the better. Interestingly enough, my husband is completely in favor of this, which I was in total shock over. Not that I don't think he supports my career, but this would be a major move for us. Stay tuned.
