Ways I feel "grown up":
*I no longer shop at stores like Wet Seal and The Body Shop
*I know what I want to be when I grow up
*I am married and trying to start a family
*When I wake up in the morning, my joints sound like Rice Krispies
*Almost all of my friends are married and most have children
*I feel old
I did have an absolutely wonderful birthday, I must say. It lasted all week long with co-workers and friends bringing (or sending) me gifts, my mom showering me with presents, and eating lots of cake. The weekend was even better though.
On Friday, my husband met me in in Daytona and gave me a GORGEOUS pair of tanzanite and diamond earrings. We then went to Buca di Beppo to celebrate with both of our families. We had a great time, and after, my husband, brother, and I headed to the Ocean Deck. I saw lots of my old students there - and it was nice for my husband to get to meet some of them. We were lucky enough to get a table and some of our friends ended up being there so we stayed longer than we'd intended to.
I woke up a bit hungover but not too bad. A bit of "hair of the dog" helped later that evening when we met some friends out for dinner at a local Mongolian grill. We then went over to a trendy martini bar and stayed there most of the night. Most of my favorite friends that I work with were there, along with many, many gay men. We had a blast!!! At the end of the night, we ended up going over to a bar that was hosting a gay night - the music was kick-ass, but I think it put my husband into estrogen overload because he was ready to leave sooner than I'd hoped.
We slept in really late the next day and then, after having lunch with his mom, we headed home. It was a very fun and memorable birthday. I just wish having birthdays didn't mean getting older!!!
