Baby Fever

I am so ready to be a mom that it's not even funny. I think "baby fever" struck me sometime in 2002 or so. It finally struck my husband last July so we started "trying."

It's been a year and still no luck. A sonogram back in 1994 showed that I had scar tissue on my fallopian tubes so that might be the problem. I was given the green light by my OB/GYN to see a specialist for diagnostic testing and will be calling them tomorrow.

Everyone keeps saying things like, "you haven't been trying for that long" and "it will happen when the time is right." Or worse, they will ask me every time I talk to them if it's happened yet. Here are some guidelines for talking to friends who are "trying" to have a baby:

*Don't ask if they are pregnant - if they are, you will know soon enough. Asking only reminds them that they aren't yet.
*Don't say things like "it will happen when the time is right" -- there may never be a right time and then what? Cliches are never good.
*Offering advice based on personal experience is welcomed.

I do believe it will happen someday but it is tough to consider that it might not. There are many advancements in modern medicine so I am definitely remaining optimistic - hell, it took my big sis 6 years to have her second child! Waiting (and wondering) is the hardest part.
